Diester series

This series of products is a high quality, low viscosity, low pour point dibasic acid ester, alone or in combination with other synthetic materials, used as a base oil for a variety of fully synthetic or partially synthetic lubricating oils.It can be used in many automotive and industrial lubrication applications, as well as ultra-low temperature synthetic lubricants.

Product Details

Low-Viscosity Dibasic Acid Ester Base Oil for Synthetic Lubricant Formulation

BASOILS Diester Base Oil is a synthetic ester base oil series developed for fully synthetic and semi-synthetic lubricant formulations requiring low viscosity, excellent low-temperature fluidity, high viscosity index, and reliable lubricity.

Available in grades from DA21 to DA51, the series provides formulators with flexible options for low-viscosity industrial oils, ultra-low-temperature lubricants, aviation lubricant blends, refrigeration oils, air compressor oils, hydraulic fluids, greases, gear oils, and internal combustion engine oils.

Diester base oils can be used as a primary base oil or as a co-base oil with compatible PAO and selected mineral base oils. Final blend ratios should be determined according to the target viscosity, additive package, operating temperature, volatility requirements, and finished-lubricant performance targets.

FAQ

What is diester base oil?

Diester base oil is a synthetic ester lubricant base oil produced from dibasic acids and alcohols. It is commonly used in lubricant formulations requiring low viscosity, low-temperature fluidity, ester polarity, and good additive solubility.

Is diester base oil suitable for ultra-low-temperature lubricants?

Yes. The DA series includes grades with pour points as low as -70°C, making them suitable for evaluating lubricant formulations designed for cold operating environments.

Can diester base oil be used in refrigeration oil?

Yes. The current product information lists refrigeration oil as an application direction, with a recommended maximum treat rate of up to 98%. Final refrigerant compatibility and miscibility must be tested for the selected finished lubricant.

Can it be blended with PAO or mineral base oils?

Yes. Diester base oil can be evaluated in blends with compatible PAO and selected mineral base oils. Before commercial use, formulators should verify miscibility, viscosity response, additive solubility, seal compatibility, and long-term storage stability.

Which grade is suitable for low-temperature hydraulic oil?

DA31, DA32, DA41, and DA51 can be evaluated as starting options depending on the target viscosity, required pour point, hydraulic pump design, additive package, and operating environment.

Can diester base oil be used in grease?

Yes. The recommended formulation range for high- and low-temperature grease is 10–90%. The final formula should be validated with the selected thickener system and additive package.
